Alexander S. Travis, President of Medallion Capital, has over 10 years of private equity, investment banking and institutional asset management experience. Prior to joining MCI, Alex was responsible for new business development at Northstar Capital, a Minneapolis-based subordinated debt fund focused primarily on private equity-backed lower middle market transactions. Prior to that, Alex held positions with Aviva Investors and Churchill Capital, and began his career in Minneapolis with Piper Jaffray & Co. Alex holds a B.S. in Finance from Iowa State University.

Stephen Lewis has been working with small businesses since 1989, starting as a strategic and operations consultant and evolving to a small business owner, and ultimately to an investor and portfolio manager. As a senior member of Medallion Capital’s management team, Steve has been involved in over 65 investments since 1998, serving as a member of the Investment Committee, underwriting most deals and monitoring many. Mr. Lewis has served on several corporate boards and currently focuses on strategic growth of the portfolio. He is a past President of the Midwest Region of the Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA) and also served on its National Board of Governors. Mr. Lewis has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Industrial Engineering from Ohio University. When not working on deals, Steve can be found in his fishing boat or riding his Harley.

Aaron Price is a Vice President at Medallion Capital, where he is focused on underwriting, deal structuring and portfolio management. Prior to joining Medallion Capital, Aaron worked in all aspects of private equity buyout and subordinated lending for a Minnesota-based SBIC. Before that he held various roles in strategy, corporate development and operations at Turner Broadcasting and Cisco Systems (f/k/a) Scientific Atlanta. Aaron has a B.S. in finance from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from Emory University. Aaron lives in suburban Minneapolis with his wife and three young children. In his spare time, he enjoys family vacations, fishing, hiking, and reading.

Dean R. Pickerell has held an executive position with this SBIC since 1985. He has extensive experience in the areas of venture capital, buyouts, private equity, and subordinated debt lending. Dean has served on the Board of Directors of several public and private companies, including non-profit organizations, and served on the NAIC trade association Board. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Iowa State University and completed course work for an MBA at Mankato State University.
Anna Drouches joined Medallion Capital in 2017 and focuses on the firm’s accounting, financial management, and tax matters. Prior to joining the team, she was the Controller for CVF Capital Partners, a Small Business Investment Company based out of Davis, CA, and a Fund Accountant for the San Francisco office of Partech Ventures, an international venture capital firm. Anna started her career as an auditor at Deloitte and Touche where she earned her CPA license. Anna graduated from St. Mary’s College of California with a B.S. in Accounting. A California native, in her free time Anna can be found exploring Minnesota, chasing after her two young children, or cuddled up with a good book.

Melissa Vannelli has more than 20 years of SBIC experience, and is responsible for Medallion Capital’s SBA compliance and portfolio administration, as well as AP/AR and assisting with financial audits. She also performs general HR, marketing and office management functions. Melissa graduated with honors from Metropolitan State University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Away from the office Melissa enjoys reading, family road trips, walking her dog, and cheering on her family of hockey players.

Barbara Bird has been with Medallion Capital since 1998 in the capacity of Office Assistant. Some of Barb’s responsibilities include file maintenance, document tracking, database, purchasing, special projects, and general clerical support to Medallion staff. Barb’s pastimes include genealogical research, travel and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
